Excellence in Nursing 2011

Miranda Cummings RN, was honored as the recipient of the ‘Excellence in Nursing’ award at the May 6th Nurses’ Day reception at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. A crystal star award and $500 were presented to her by Laura Kurzendoerfer, Vice President of Nursing. Miranda was chosen for this honor from among several peer nominations. Miranda embodies the essence of the nursing profession and meets the criteria for this honor.

Miranda has worked full-time at GPRMC since July 2005 working as a Nurse Tech on our MedSurg Unit. She became a Registered Nurse in June 2006, worked in the OR, and in April 2009 transferred to the Women’s Center. Leadership, dedication and compassion are all qualities that she possesses. She is a Preceptor, PCEP facilitator, a NRP instructor, and she also substitutes for the House Supervisors. She is an excellent nurse who is willing to work wherever she is needed and does so without complaint. She is an inspiration to her coworkers and directors who have the highest praise for her.

Miranda is a champion for improving care for all mothers and babies; believing that “every week counts” to improve the outcome for all newborns in Western Oklahoma. She has been a positive team member helping to improve standards of care by showing her co-workers and students how we can improve the care and outcome of all our guests promoting our overall goal of providing our guests a visit that “Exceeds their Expectations.”
